SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), and the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) have reaffirmed their commitment to ensure safety and health of workers belonging to the waste and recycling industry.

The entities have signed a three-year agreement to collaborate on initiatives to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses by sharing resources, training materials, and best practices. The agreement demonstrates their commitment to ensure that safety of waste and recycling industry workforce remains a top priority for all these organizations.
The collaboration will focus on reaching out to small- and medium-sized employers and carry out a series of awareness campaigns and training efforts based on critical data. Also, it calls for cross-participation in events hosted by each organization, so as to expand the reach of safety and health messaging.
The partnership provides the opportunity for SWANA and NWRA to work closely with OSHA on sharing and developing critical resources. By doing so, the organizations aim to build a culture of safety, which in turn will help to keep communities clean and safe.
