SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), in partnership with Electronics Recyclers International (ERI) will host free e-waste recycling events in Vermillion and Owen counties.
The Indiana state law prohibits its residents from disposing of electronic waste in any trash or by burning. These items are supposed to be treated as household hazardous waste rather than ordinary household trash. Any electronics that contain harmful heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and hexavalent chromium are considered as e-waste, according to IDEM news release.
