Union County Declared 2023 Recycling Schedule


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Union County Board of County Commissioners have announced schedule for free, drive-through recycling programs for the current year. The schedule for collection of scrap metal, personal documents and household hazardous waste are now made available online at ucnj.org/recycling.

The drive-thru recycling program for scrap metal recycling will be available in Rahway and Kenilworth, on the first Thursday and third Saturday of each month, from April to November this year. These events will accept metal appliances, fencing, gutters, kitchenware and much more.

The locations covered by paper shredding program include Scotch Plains, Plainfield, Berkeley Heights, Hillside, Clark, Cranford, Rahway, Union Township, and Westfield. The events are scheduled to take place from March to October, 2023.

A total of five events will be held in Cranford, Union Township and Scotch Plains between April and October, where residents can bring a wide variety of home and yard products for recycling.

All the above events, run by the Bureau of Recycling and Planning, will be drive-thru, where residents are required to bring the items in their vehicles, which will be offloaded by site staff.
