MONTREAL (RecyclingMonster): Residents of Orland Park will have an opportunity to dispose of sensitive documents, unwanted electronics and prescription medications at a free community recycling and disposal event on Friday, October 9.
The Village of Orland Park will conduct the event from 9 a.m. to noon at Orland Square Mall, 288 Orland Square Drive. The collection area will be located on the upper level near Texas de Brazil.
The event follows repeated requests from residents for additional disposal opportunities after a cleanup event held in July. Local officials said the latest collection is intended to provide convenient options for handling materials that require specialized disposal.
Electronics, Documents and Medications Accepted
The event will accept a range of electronic equipment, including laptops, desktop computers, cellphones, cables, calculators, computer hardware, fax machines, printers and televisions. Households are allowed to bring one television for recycling.
Residents participating in the prescription drug take-back program must keep medications in their original containers. Hypodermic needles and liquid medications will not be accepted.
Collection Continues Until Noon or Truck Capacity Is Reached
The event is being co-hosted by Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago Vice President Theresa Flynn, and Commissioners Yumeka Brown and Beth McElroy Kirkwood.
Organizers noted that collection services will continue only until noon or until available truck capacity is reached, whichever comes first. Residents are therefore encouraged to arrive early.
