The partnership highlights the importance of growing cooperation between local governments by using shared resources and infrastructure to deliver improved waste management and recycling services. It must be noted that municipalities across the U.S. have been exploring cost-effective solutions to manage rising waste management expenses.
Accordingly, Bristol will make use of the county’s existing collection network and expertise, which in turn will significantly reduce operational costs while promoting environmental goals.
County officials noted that the agreement strengthens regional recycling efforts and supports long-term sustainability initiatives. The collaboration is expected to deliver higher diversion rates, in addition to reducing dependence on landfills.
With the approval of the agreement, Sullivan County’s Solid Waste and Recycling Department will now begin providing collection services to Bristol residents.
