Evanston Recycles Event 2026 Set for June 27

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Evanston will host its annual “Evanston Recycles” event on June 27, 2026. The event will provide residents with a convenient opportunity to recycle electronic waste, securely shred documents, and safely dispose of unused medications.

The free drive-up, drop-off event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Evanston Township High School, located at 1600 Dodge Avenue. The event, held in cooperation with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County, will have support of volunteers from Climate Action Evanston.

This year's event introduces several new recycling and reuse opportunities. Residents are allowed to bring items such as bicycles and bike accessories, books, CDs, DVDs, Lego bricks, tennis balls, tools in good working condition, and usable art and office supplies for reuse and recycling.

A wide range of electronic items will be accepted, including computers, laptops, monitors, printers, scanners, televisions, cell phones, gaming consoles, and other electronic devices. In addition, residents may bring up to five banker’s boxes of paper documents for secure on-site shredding.

Also, unused prescription medications and expired over-the-counter drugs will also be collected for safe disposal. Organizers noted that medications must remain in labeled containers and that needles and syringes will not be accepted.
