Mid Valley Disposal Unveils $12 Million AI-Powered Recycling Expansion in Fresno


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Fresno, California-based Mid Valley Disposal has unveiled a state-of-the-art recycling processing line as part of a $12 million expansion project. The new line is expected to boost the company’s recycling efficiency and sustainability across Central California region.

The processing line is the largest and most advanced recycling processing line between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The new facility incorporates three artificial intelligence (AI)-powered robots, which could identify and sort recyclable materials such as cardboard, aluminum cans, glass, and plastic containers with greater speed and accuracy.

The company stated that the AI-driven technology uses advanced optical sorters and real-time image recognition to improve material recovery rates and reduce contamination. The robotic system has been developed in partnership with California-based AI firm Glacier.

The investment ipromises to boost processing capacity from 35 tons to 60 tons of recyclable material per hour. Also, it will reduce operating schedules from six days per week at 12 hours per day to five days per week at seven hours per day. The expansion is projected to create 20 new jobs in the region.

Mid Valley Disposal has been serving the region for more than three decades. It processed around 125,000 tons of recyclables in 2025.
