SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Fond du Lac has announced a week-long electronic recycling event. The event, held in partnership with RecycleThatStuff.com, will offer residents an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted electronic items.
The recycling drive, open to residents of the City of Fond du Lac, will take place from Monday, June 15 through Saturday, June 20 at the Municipal Service Center Bulky Waste Drop-Off Site located at 530 Doty Street. The program will operate during regular facility hours from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
The organizers said that payments will be made only in cash, as credit cards and checks will not be accepted at the site.
Several electronic items, including computers, laptops, printers, scanners, keyboards, hard drives, cellular phones, cameras, VCR and DVD players, video game systems, cordless power tools, small kitchen appliances, and other small electronics, will be accepted free of charge.
Certain larger electronics will require recycling fees. Televisions willhave a recycling charge, that will range from $20 to $60 depending on size and type. CRT computer monitors will have a recycling fee of $20 each. Also, microwaves and large copy machines will each carry a $15 recycling fee.
City officials noted that staff reserve the right to refuse items that do not meet electronic recycling guidelines.
