NYC Spring Recycling Day to Cut Waste, Support Communities

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): A spring recycling initiative aimed at reducing landfill waste and supporting vulnerable communities is set to take place in Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan. The “Spring Community Recycling Day” will be held on Sunday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering residents a convenient way to responsibly dispose of reusable items.

The event encourages participants to clear out unwanted household goods while contributing to environmental sustainability. Organizers highlight that gently used items collected during the drive will help support housing-insecure individuals across New York City, reinforcing both ecological and social impact.

Accepted items include electronics such as computers, laptops, printers, mobile phones, televisions, and video game consoles. In addition, clothing, shoes, linens, towels, curtains, and other clean, dry textiles will also be collected for reuse and redistribution.

However, certain items will not be accepted due to safety and recycling constraints. These include air conditioners, large appliances, batteries, light bulbs, and outdated media such as CDs, DVDs, and cassette tapes.

The initiative is co-sponsored by the LES Ecology Center, emphasizing community collaboration in advancing recycling awareness and reducing urban waste.
