SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): A community-focused recycling initiative is scheduled in Huntingdon Valley, where Nancy Guenst has partnered with the Lower Moreland Police Department to host a free shredding and e-waste recycling event.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Lower Moreland High School, located at 545 Red Lion Road. Organizers noted that services will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and may end earlier if the collection truck reaches full capacity.
The program is designed to encourage environmentally responsible disposal of electronic waste while providing residents with a secure way to destroy sensitive documents. Accepted electronic items include small appliances, printers, computers, laptops, hard drives, VCRs, miscellaneous wires, and other devices with plugs.
Participation guidelines limit each attendee to one personal vehicle, with up to three boxes permitted for shredding. Items such as monitors, televisions, X-rays, and hanging folders will not be accepted. Appliances containing Freon can be recycled for a $25 cash fee per unit.
The initiative highlights ongoing efforts to promote sustainability and community safety through proper waste management practices.
