VPPSA Terminated Curbside Recycling Contract with TFC

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Tidewater Fibre Corporation's (TFC) curbside recycling contract has been terminated by the Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority (VPPSA) Board of Directors. September 30, 2025, is the date of the termination. As a result, TFC will no longer provide curbside recycling services to the cities of Williamsburg, Poquoson, York County, and James City County.

On September 24, 2025, TFC received a notice of termination stating non-compliance with the parties' mutual agreement. It should be mentioned that TFC has declined to address the mentioned non-compliance problems.

VPPSA claims that it had asked TFC for documents on multiple occasions so that it could confirm the correctness of its billing. It hasn't, however, gotten the required paperwork. The authority's recommendations and corrective action plan have also not received a favorable response from TFC.

VPPSA and TFC signed a curbside recycling contract in December 2018 that was last modified in December 2023. The contract covers the City of Hampton as well as the counties of Mathews, Middlesex, Essex, King and Queen, and King William. The impacted municipalities are reportedly developing their own recycling strategies.
