Zoo Atlanta to Host Third Annual Electronics Recycling Event on August 29

MONTREAL (RecyclingMonster): The Zoo Atlanta Green Team will host a third-annual Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 9 a.m. to noon. Residents interested in responsible electronics and metal recycling options across the country can find additional drop-off resources on RecyclingMonster.
Members and guests are encouraged to bring small electronics to recycle through partner ecocell to benefit the Gorillas on the Line … Answer the Call campaign. Accepted items will include cell phones, smartphones, iPads, iPods, smartwatches, and digital cameras.
How Recycled Electronics Support Gorilla Conservation
All proceeds from small electronics recycling will support the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' (AZA) SAFE Gorilla program. There is a direct connection between the manufacturing of these items and wild gorillas, as the rare earth minerals used in their production are found in only a few places on the planet — including gorilla habitat in Africa.
Recycling of these materials reduces the demand for these minerals, and proceeds from recycled devices directly support field conservation efforts.
Where to Drop Off Electronics at Zoo Atlanta
Participants may bring items to the circular drive outside Savanna Hall, where members of the Green Team — an internal committee of team members working to advance the Zoo's on-grounds sustainability initiatives — will be on hand to assist.
The circular drive is located just past the base of the Cherokee Avenue parking lot on the Grant Park side of the lot.
Larger Electronics Accepted Through Prime Asset Recovery
Zoo Atlanta has also again partnered with Prime Asset Recovery for the recycling of larger items, including but not limited to monitors, desktop computers, laptops, keyboards, servers, printers, and more. Appliances will not be accepted.
