WM Announces Opening of Advanced Recycling Facility in Cambridge


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Waste Management (WM) has announced official opening of its state-of-the-art recycling facility in Cambridge, Ontario. This marks a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to modernize recycling infrastructure across the province.

The new advanced facility is part of WM’s proposed $300 million investment in two new recycling facilities in Ontario. The second facility is located in the Greater Napanee region. Together, the two facilities are expected to process approximately 30% of Ontario’s Blue Box materials, significantly strengthening the province’s recycling capacity.

New Mattress Recycling Facility Opens in Crook County, Oregon

The Cambridge facility wawsw first announced in 2024. It is designed to support Ontario’s transition to a standardized Blue Box recycling system in partnership with Circular Materials. The facility will operate under an extended producer responsibility (EPR) framework.

The facility features advanced mechanical and optical sorting technologies, automation systems, and artificial intelligence, making it capable of effectively identifying and separating a broader range of recyclable materials. These capabilities are expected to boost recycling volumes across Ontario. In addition to recycling operations, the Cambridge site features a dedicated education center.

The facility has created more than 40 local jobs. The Greater Napanee recycling facilityalso has created similar employment opportunities.
