SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Mount Vernon, in partnership with J&C E-Recycling, will host an electronic recycling event for local residents from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 30, at the city’s Public Works Department facility located at 1201 Casey Ave.
The event is part of the city’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible waste management. Officials said it offers residents a convenient and eco-friendly way to safely dispose of unwanted electronic items and appliances.
Assistant to the city manager Kendra Donoho said Mount Vernon aims to organize these recycling events annually, depending on available funding. The previous event, held in November 2025, collected 38,824 pounds of recyclable materials.
Donoho noted that community participation has been strong in recent years and praised the partnership with J&C E-Recycling for helping continue the initiative.
Accepted items include computers, laptops, printers, cell phones, lawn equipment, microwaves, refrigerators, washers, dryers, treadmills and small household appliances. Televisions will also be accepted, limited to two per household.
Items not accepted include light bulbs, smoke detectors, tires, propane tanks and carbon dioxide detectors, according to event organizers.
