SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Boonsboro Swap & Recycling Event will return on May 9 at Shafer Park, offering residents a chance to recycle, donate, and exchange reusable items while supporting sustainability efforts. The free event, running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., is expected to draw strong community participation.
Organized by the Boonsboro Green Fest Committee, the initiative accepts a wide range of materials including clothing, scrap metal, electronics, books, and household goods. Special collections will include eyeglasses by the Boonsboro Lions Club and unused medications by the Boonsboro Police Department.
Electronics recycling will be supported by Spichers Appliance & Electronics, while reusable items will be collected by Horizon Goodwill. The event will also feature a “Free Zone” for household goods, a plant swap with native giveaways, and live music.
Since 2009, the initiative has helped divert large volumes of waste from landfills, promoting reuse and community engagement. Organizers say the event continues to strengthen local recycling infrastructure and encourage residents to adopt sustainable practices while reducing environmental impact.
