SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Residents in Coshocton County facing challenges in disposing of items such as old batteries, junk tires, and worn-out furniture now have several recycling and disposal options, according to local officials.
Alex Nelson, director of the county’s Recycling and Litter Prevention program, noted a steady rise in inquiries about items not accepted in standard curbside recycling. Improper disposal remains a concern, with cleanup crews reporting dozens of illegally dumped items, including tires, mattresses, and appliances, during early 2026.

For battery recycling, residents can turn to retailers like Staples, which accepts various battery types after the county’s previous program with Cirba Solutions ended. Electronics recycling is also available through Staples and Best Buy locations nearby.
Furniture disposal options include municipal trash services via Kimble Companies or donations to nonprofits such as Goodwill and Salvation Army.
Tire disposal remains a major issue, but a county-sponsored recycling drive scheduled for later this year will allow residents to drop off up to 10 tires for a small fee, helping reduce illegal dumping.
Officials encourage residents to use these resources to reduce litter and promote responsible waste management practices across the community.
