Tamarac to Host Semi-Annual Hazardous Household Waste Recycling Event on May 2

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Tamarac will host its Semi-Annual Community Hazardous Household Waste (HHW) Recycling Event on Saturday, May 2, 2026, offering residents a safe and convenient way to dispose of hazardous materials and unwanted electronics.

The free event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tamarac Public Services Building, located at 6011 Nob Hill Road, with access through the east entry gate. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the initiative to responsibly discard items that cannot be placed in regular household trash.

To ensure a smooth and safe process, participants must remain in their vehicles and place items in their trunk, where trained staff will handle collection and recycling with minimal contact. A valid photo ID or proof of residency is required for participation.

The program is open to residents of Tamarac as well as neighboring cities including Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Lauderdale Lakes, and Pompano Beach, under a collaborative regional waste management initiative.

Accepted items include electronics such as computers, printers, and televisions, along with automotive batteries, paint, motor oil, pesticides, and fluorescent tubes. However, materials such as medical waste, explosives, tires, business waste, and general trash will not be accepted.
