St. Augustine to Host Earth Day Recycling Event with E-Waste Drop-Off and Shredding Services

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of St. Augustine is set to host its annual Earth Day recycling event on April 24, offering residents a convenient way to dispose of unwanted materials responsibly. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Solid Waste Facility on Riberia Street.

Residents will be able to shred up to five boxes of documents per household, recycle a wide range of electronic devices, and safely dispose of used cooking oil. While e-waste collection will be handled at the Solid Waste Facility, cooking oil must be dropped off at the nearby Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Accepted electronic items include laptops, computers, chargers, batteries, tablets, cameras, printers, and other small devices. However, certain items such as televisions, hazardous waste, tires, and motor oil will not be accepted.

The initiative highlights the importance of recycling in reducing landfill waste and conserving natural resources. According to environmental experts, recycling also helps lower energy consumption, prevent pollution, and support domestic manufacturing.

City officials encourage residents to participate in the event, which not only promotes environmental responsibility but also contributes to a more sustainable and resource-efficient community.
