SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Lake Gaston Association (LGA) will host its annual Jack D. Saunders Community Shred Event on Saturday, May 2, offering free document shredding services to residents and businesses across the Lake Gaston region. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until the shredding truck reaches capacity, at the Roanoke Wildwood Volunteer Fire Station.
The event is designed to promote secure disposal of sensitive documents while supporting recycling and environmental sustainability. Professional shredding services will be provided by Shred-It, Inc., which will deploy a mobile unit equipped with a high-efficiency industrial shredder capable of handling large volumes quickly and securely.
LGA volunteers will assist by inspecting materials before shredding, in order to ensure that the materials don’t contain binders or binder clips. While staples and paper clips are allowed, binders, binder clips, and cardboard boxes will not be accepted. A one-way traffic system will be in place to ensure efficient unloading and smooth vehicle flow.
The event is open to all residents without membership requirements. Although the service is free, donations are welcomed. Volunteers are also encouraged to participate and support event operations.
