Residents of Fayetteville, Georgia, USA may bring up to 10 small boxes or three small bags of paper for on-site shredding. Participants are asked to remove paperclips, plastic, and cardboard before arrival, though small staples are acceptable. The event will also accept a wide range of consumer electronics for recycling, including computers, laptops, printers, networking equipment, televisions, mobile devices, batteries, and audio-video equipment.
Vehicles will follow a one-way traffic route entering the queue via the Fayetteville City Hall entrance on Stonewall Avenue West (Highway 54 eastbound).
Organized by the city’s Public Services and Administration departments, the biannual event aims to reduce landfill waste and prevent toxic electronic materials from entering soil and groundwater.
City officials noted that recycling electronics helps conserve natural resources by reducing the need for mining while also lowering environmental pollution and protecting community health.
