Cheshire to Host Free Electronics and Mattress Recycling Event on March 14

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Town of Cheshire will hold its next free Electronics and Mattress Recycling Event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, at 1304 Waterbury Road, the site of the town’s former transfer station. The initiative aims to provide residents with a convenient and environmentally responsible way to dispose of unwanted items.

The event is open exclusively to Cheshire residents, and proof of residency will be required. Officials noted that the recycling drives are typically organized monthly on the second Saturday, although schedules may occasionally change due to holidays, weather conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances.

Residents may drop off mattresses and box springs for recycling. In addition, the event will accept a wide range of electronic waste, including computers, laptops, printers, keyboards, monitors, televisions, DVD players, telephones, tablets, gaming consoles, cameras, small appliances, lightbulbs, and household batteries.

The town will also collect grass clippings, leaves, branches, and brush. Participants must empty yard waste from bags or containers, and branches should be no more than 6 inches in diameter and 4 feet in length.

However, officials emphasized that several items will not be accepted, including soiled or bed bug–infested mattresses, furniture, garbage, smoke detectors, car batteries, Freon-containing appliances, and oversized branches or logs.
