Macomb Community College to Host Free Drive-Through E-Recycling Event

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Macomb Community College will host a free drive-through e-recycling event on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 14500 12 Mile Road, Parking Lot 8. The initiative encourages responsible electronics recycling while rewarding participants with Detroit Zoo tickets.

Residents who recycle a minimum 17-gallon load of electronics will receive one Zoo ticket, while larger loads, such as a full backseat or truck bed, qualify for two tickets. All tickets are redeemable for one year. Organizers request advance registration, though walk-ups are welcome.

Accepted items include computers, laptops, cell phones, tablets, TVs, monitors, printers, small appliances, batteries, DVD and VHS players, holiday lights, cords and wire. Light bulbs, smoke detectors and appliances containing Freon are not accepted.

Participants must remain in their vehicles as staff unload materials. Officials advise residents to delete personal data before drop-off; all hard drives will be destroyed in accordance with U.S. Department of Defense standards. Certain batteries, including lithium and those over 9 volts, must have terminals taped to prevent fire risks.

The event aims to divert hazardous e-waste from landfills and protect Great Lakes ecosystems.
