SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Renton’s Sustainability and Solid Waste team will host a special recycling and document shredding event on Saturday, September 13, 2025, offering residents a convenient opportunity to responsibly dispose of hard-to-recycle materials.

During the collection, staff will accept Styrofoam peanuts and bubble wrap (bagged packing peanuts only), clean white block Styrofoam marked #6 or EPS, and a variety of plastic films, including grocery bags, clean food bags, and plastic shipping envelopes. Residents may also bring up to four banker-size boxes of documents for secure shredding, or an equivalent amount in bags. Accepted paper materials include mail, blueprints, photographs, and file folders, with no need to remove staples or paper clips.

Certain items will not be accepted, including hard plastics, toys, binders, discs, cardboard, or hard-cover books.

In addition to recycling services, the event will collect non-perishable food donations to support Renton neighbors through the local food bank, reinforcing the city’s commitment to sustainability and community support.
