Mesa County Extends Contract with IT Refresh for E-Waste Recycling in 2026

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Mesa County Commissioners have approved a one-year extension with IT Refresh, officially known as Onsite Electronics Recycling LLC, to continue providing electronic waste recycling at the county’s Hazardous Waste Collection Facility throughout 2026. The contract, confirmed during the Jan. 13 public administrative hearing, carries a maximum value of $120,000.

Electronic waste, which often contains hazardous materials such as heavy metals, poses serious risks to soil and groundwater if disposed of improperly. Since 2013, Colorado law has prohibited electronics from landfills, making certified recycling programs like IT Refresh vital for local communities.

Mesa County’s facility handles over 240,000 pounds of e-waste annually, collected from both residents and businesses. County officials emphasized that partnering with a certified, experienced recycler ensures compliance with state regulations while safeguarding public health and the environment.

IT Refresh has served Mesa County since 2015 and has been active statewide since 2013. The company maintains multiple certifications guaranteeing responsible recycling and secure data destruction for electronics. Commissioners unanimously backed the extension, highlighting the ongoing need for safe and reliable e-waste recycling services countywide.
