Huntsville’s Operation Christmas Cleanup to Offer Post-Holiday Recycling on Jan. 10, 2026

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Huntsville-area residents will once again have an environmentally responsible option for managing post-holiday waste when Operation Christmas Cleanup returns in January 2026. The annual recycling drive encourages households to rethink disposal habits by diverting common seasonal waste from landfills.

Scheduled for Saturday, January 10, the event will run from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and marks the seventh year of collaboration between the City of Huntsville’s Green Team, the Solid Waste Disposal Authority, the Recycling Alliance of North Alabama, and the City of Madison. Organizers describe the initiative as a centralized solution for materials that typically accumulate after the holidays.

Participants may use either of two convenient drop-off sites: John Hunt Park in Huntsville or the Madison City Schools Stadium in Madison. Accepted items include natural Christmas trees that have been fully stripped of decorations and stands, flattened cardboard boxes, consumer electronics such as televisions and computers, and household batteries.

The officials stress that only approved recyclables will be accepted. Artificial trees, holiday décor, wrapping paper, and plastic or foam packaging materials are not permitted. If weather conditions are unfavorable, the cleanup will be postponed to January 17 at the same locations and times.
