Cheshire to Host Free Electronics, Mattress, and Yard Waste Recycling Day on Dec. 13


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Cheshire residents will have an opportunity to clear out unwanted household items as the Town of Cheshire prepares to host its next Electronics and Mattress Recycling Event on Saturday, Dec. 13. The free collection program will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1304 Waterbury Road, the former transfer station location.

Town officials noted that the event is restricted to local residents and requires proof of residency at the gate. In addition to electronics and mattresses, the town will accept grass clippings, leaves, branches, and brush. Yard waste must be emptied from bags or containers, and branches must not exceed 6 inches in diameter or 4 feet in length.

The monthly recycling initiative is typically held on the second Saturday, though schedules may shift in response to holidays, weather, or unforeseen operational needs.

Acceptable electronics include computers, televisions, printers, phones, cameras, small appliances, gaming systems, and household batteries. Mattresses and box springs will also be collected, with restrictions on items that are wet, infested, heavily soiled, or structurally altered.

Unaccepted materials include crib mattresses, futon beds, furniture, Freon-containing appliances, smoke detectors, car batteries, and oversized yard debris.
