Covington Launches Annual Holiday Lights Recycling Program for Residents

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Covington is encouraging residents to recycle their holiday lights through its annual seasonal program, helping keep reusable materials out of landfills. In partnership with Cohen Recycling, the initiative offers a simple and eco-friendly way to dispose of non-working or unwanted decorative lights.

Running from December 1, 2025, through February 28, 2026, Covington residents can drop off all types of string lights, including traditional incandescent and modern LED strands, at four convenient city locations. The program aims to collect as many old lights as possible, ensuring they are responsibly recycled instead of thrown away.
