Republic Services Acquired Montana Hauler Tri-County Disposal

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Tri-County Disposal, a hauler in the Helena, Montana, area, was acquired by Republic Services. Earlier this month, the transaction finalized.

The Valley View Landfill in East Helena, run by Tri-County Disposal, has a commercial composting facility on site and takes MSW and C&D wastes. In Lewis and Clark, Jefferson, and Broadwater counties, it picks up waste from both residential and business clients. The business provides pickup services for recycling cardboard and commercial metal. It also provides trash and roll-off services. It operates a fleet of thirty cars, according to federal data.

This is not Republic Services' first acquisition in the Montana area. It had purchased Montana Waste Systems earlier in 2019. The business is already present in a number of Montana communities, such as the Flathead region, Bozeman, and Great Falls.

It's unlikely that the move to a new business will result in significant adjustments to rates and customer service. Republic Services reiterated its commitment to providing the Greater Helena region with dependable, continuous service.

Republic Services' rival Grizzy Disposal had expressed reservations about Republic Services taking over landfill management. But in the end, the hauler's resistance to the ownership transfer was rejected.
