SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Union County Board of County Commissioners announced free recycling events for the month of September this year. These events offer opportunity for residents to dispose of items including personal documents, scrap metal, and household hazardous waste at drop-off locations across the County.
The free paper shredding events are scheduled to be held on Saturday, September 20th, and Friday, September 26th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., or until the trucks reach capacity, at Parking Lots 5A/5B, 1033 Springfield Avenue, Cranford and Parking Lot, 713 Cumberland Street, Westfield. The collected documents will be shredded on-site and transported to a recycling facility for further processing.

The drop-off events for scrap metal will be held on Thursday, September 4th, and Saturday, September 20th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Emergency Services Building, 151 Kenilworth Boulevard, Kenilworth and Rahway River Park.
Also, next Household Hazardous Waste event will take place on Saturday, September 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Kean University’s Kean Hall Parking Lot, located at 1000 Morris Avenue in Union. It must be noted that fireworks will no longer be accepted for disposal.
The residents are requested to remain in their cars while the materials are unloaded from their trunks by the staff.
