Ohio EPA Grants $1.4 Million to Support Recycling in Northwest Ohio


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded more than $1.4 million in grants this year to promote recycling in northwest Ohio. The recipients of the grant include local governments, businesses and non-profit organizations across the region. Across the state, Ohio EPA has issued more than $6.3 million in grant funding.

The biggest funding of $300,000 goes to Fleck Manufacturing in Allen County, who will use the grant money towards purchase of new scrap tire manufacturing and processing equipment. Also, DeRuijter International USA Inc. of Mercer County and Barnes Nursery Inc. of Erie County has been awarded $200,000 each to purchase new recycling equipment, the press release said.

R&R Tire Disposal of Allen County would use the grant funding of $150,910 to purchase scrap tire manufacturing and processing equipment. A grant money of $100,000 has been awarded to Toledo, Lucas County towards litter cleanup, tire amnesty program and outreach and education.

The other major recipients include Lucas County Solid Waste Management District Van Wert Solid Waste Management District, Auglaize County Solid Waste Management District and Lott Industries, Inc. (Lucas County).
