SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Residents of the Park Cities area will have another opportunity to responsibly dispose of unwanted electronics, sensitive documents, books and household items at an upcoming community recycling event.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the SMU parking lot on the south side of Burleson Park.
Residents can bring a wide range of confidential papers, including tax and medical records, legal documents, financial files, invoices, canceled checks and paperwork containing Social Security, credit card, driver's license or account numbers. Shred-it will securely destroy the documents on-site.

The event will also accept numerous electronic products. The accepted items include computers, monitors, printers, televisions, phones, chargers, scanners, fax machines, hard drives, gaming systems, cameras, cables and power equipment. Global Asset will handle the e-waste and erase data from storage devices collected during the event.
The Friends of the University Park Library will collect clean, gently used books, including adult and children's fiction and nonfiction in very good or excellent condition.
The Salvation Army will accept working household appliances with all parts and accessories, wood furniture and clothing in good condition. Donors will receive receipts that can be used for tax deductions.
