The revised program follows a year-long assessment of recycling operations. During the review, city leaders worked with nearby communities, industry experts, and local organizations to identify practical ways to improve the system and reduce contamination.
Also, only approved recyclable materials listed in the official guidelines will be accepted. If a cart contains non-recyclable items, it will not be collected, and the household will receive a notice explaining the reason. Residents who receive three contamination notices will be removed from the recycling program.
All current participants must confirm whether they wish to remain enrolled by July 31. In addition to providing basic contact information, they must also confirm thier willingness to follow the updated recycling rules.
The new measures are expected to improve the quality of recyclable materials, City officials noted.
