SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Momentum Recycling reported that its customers diverted 32,237 tons of material from Utah landfills in 2025, according to its latest Impact Report, highlighting steady progress in waste reduction and sustainability efforts. The total diversion included 13,902 tons of glass, 17,500 tons of food waste, and 835 tons of mixed recyclables.
The report also underscored a major milestone, with cumulative landfill diversion surpassing 254,000 tons since 2012. This includes 176,322 tons of glass, 64,616 tons of food waste, and 13,498 tons of mixed recycling, reflecting long-term growth in recycling participation across the state.

Founder John Lair noted that consistent and accessible recycling programs have driven community engagement, enabling small individual actions to deliver significant environmental impact over time.
Glass recycling remains the dominant category historically, accounting for nearly 70% of total diversion. However, food waste recycling has expanded rapidly, overtaking glass in 2025 as the largest annual contributor following strong growth in recent years.
The company emphasized that improved recycling infrastructure and public participation are key to reducing landfill waste, conserving resources, and supporting a more circular and sustainable local economy.
