Baldwin County, Alabama Solid Waste Authority Launches Curbside Recycling Program in Spanish Fort

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Solid Waste Disposal Authority (SWDA) of Baldwin County has announced that it has launched its curbside recycling program in Spanish Fort in collaboration with city officials. For the price of $10 a month, residents of Spanish Fort can opt in a new weekly curbside recycling service, which provides a simpler way to recycle materials such paper, plastic, aluminum and cardboard.

According to a press release, the monthly service fee covers hauling, sorting and responsibly processing recyclable materials, with those who opt in being able to choose whether they are billed monthly, quarterly, or annually through SWDA of Baldwin County. “This program gives Spanish Fort residents an easy, cost-effective way to care for the natural beauty that makes our community unique,” said Spanish Fort Mayor Brad Bass. “Stewardship has always been a part of who we are, and curbside recycling is another meaningful step in protecting our environment for the future.”

Spanish Fort’s new curbside recycling program is part of an effort by SWDA to expand recycling access across Baldwin County in a larger initiative to encourage responsible waste management in both urban and rural areas. They have previously established facilities within the county such as the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Summerdale and the Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials (CHaRM) in Fairhope and Summerdale.
