FCC Environmental Completed Acquisition of Florida WTE Facility

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): FCC Environmental Services announced that it has completed the acquisition of Win Waste Innovations’ South Broward Waste-to-Energy (WTE) Facility. The facility, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has a capacity to process approximately 2,250 tons of waste per day.

The announcement about the acquisition deal was made in April this year. At that time, the two companies had said that the transaction would be closed during the second quarter of the year.

This is FCC’s first WTE facility in the United States. It must be noted that the company already offers hauling services in the state for more than 800,000 residential customers and several thousands of commercial customers. The company employs nearly 2,000 people across the country. The company has been looking to expand its footprints in the North American market.

The Spain-based FCC Group operates 12 WTE facilities worldwide. Also, another set of facilities is expected to commence operations soon.

Win Waste will reinvest the proceeds from the sale into its core business, so as to drive continued growth. It must be noted that the company has been focusing on diversification and vertical integration of its waste management portfolio.

As per studies, each Broward County household generates nearly 1.3 tons of waste every year.
